Live Concept Mapping of Meetings

I guess it is a truism that the recent pandemic was transformative for the online meeting industry. Products like Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet have become ubiquitous and much more usable.

With the recent introduction of automatic transcription by Zoom, and by Google Meet if you use the Tactiq app alongside it, the possibility of real-time understanding of the information space being constructed by the group is now a reality.

During a long project planning meeting I was involved with recently, our partner organisation turned on transcription. The result was a revelation to everyone involved. People then wanted to summarise the ideas being discussed and show how they were interlinked. Instead of having to do this manually, I just dropped the transcript into Leximancer and shared the resulting concept map with everyone.

This then led us to think about having Leximancer embedded in the meeting environment so that these maps could be visible in the sidebar, and dynamically updated to show what ideas had been covered, and what was still to explore.

Tactiq also adds speaker labels to the transcript. Leximancer can optionally place speaker labels on the concept map to show ownership and contribution of themes during the meeting.

This facility transforms a routine meeting into an act of knowledge creation and exploration.
