Literature Update: Recent Important Publications Which Employ Leximancer

Using a nice feature in Google Scholar which allows one to sort the found articles by date, I discovered several very interesting papers which have come out in the last two years. I have listed their details below.

The article by Gurney (Gurney, M. 2017) is a great example of how Leximancer excels at identifying framing effects in the written word. Framing is one of the most powerful weapons deployed in modern public debate. The way an issue or a person is framed by media or by commentators can either demonise or approve them in the minds of the general public. Tversky and Kahneman performed a great deal of foundational research on framing, but today, with the rise of global propaganda machines, framing is perhaps the biggest threat to the rational ordering of our societies.

The article by Kim and Kim (Kim, D., & Kim, S. 2017) is a tour de force of content analysis in its many forms, from qualitative sense-making to quantitative correlation analysis. I recommend this article as a training resource for performing any form of content analysis.

The article by Zhang (Zhang, Y. 2017) is a powerful and interesting analysis of Sina Weibo communities.
